Family is at the heart of everything we do.

We are proud parents of four children, and family has always been what we hold closest to our hearts. In 2015, we made the move from sunny Nelson to begin a new chapter in aged care — a journey that came with a complete career change. Both of us came from backgrounds in truck and crane driving, so stepping into the care sector was a big shift.

My own connection to aged care began years earlier, having worked in the industry when I was much younger. In 2013, I also had the privilege of nursing my father through the final stages of his life. While the rest home he lived in was pleasant, there were many areas where I felt things could be better. Being in a position to truly improve quality of life for older people was something I felt deeply passionate about.

Ricky has long been involved in the community through motorsport, serving on the Board of Speedway New Zealand for 16 years, including six years as President before retiring in July 2024. Speedway is more than a sport to us — it is a family tradition. Alongside our shared love of classic cars, it has always been something that brings our whole family together, sometimes perhaps more than most people would expect.

That strong sense of family is exactly what we strive to create within Phantom Eldercare. We are incredibly proud to have our residents as part of our Phantom family. Our homes are an extension of who we are, and we work hard to ensure they are warm, welcoming, and filled with the same care and respect we would want in our own home.

Our motto has always remained the same:

“We work in your home — you do not live in our place of work”.

This belief guides every decision we make and underpins the way care is delivered across Phantom Eldercare.
